In the last year, two pastors have caused sufficient international concern that the White House has spoken about them. But only one has been mentioned in the Sydney media.

Both pastors profess to lead Bible believing churches. Both have come into conflict with Islam. Both have been criticised by their own governments.

It has been another sad week for the media.  As with the football scandal of a few months ago another high profile media personality has lost his job because of public outcry.

I make no excuse for these men or their behaviour – but they are only scapegoats.  We are not sacrificing them in order to repent and change our ways.  We are sacrificing them so that we can continue our system of self-indulgent sinfulness.  We are addressing an extreme symptom...

When is a TV show immoral?

It is hard to watch TV without, gratuitous violence, sexual exhibitionism, vulgarity of speech, dehumanising of the body in grotesque forensic murder investigations and comedians who rarely rise above toilet humour. There seems little point complaining about all this because it only gives free publicity to unworthy shows.
