Once again we have a government in NSW that is moving to undermine public holidays.

The State Government has announced its intention to change the rules concerning shopping on Boxing Day. Instead of tightening the rules to remove the exceptions for city shopping, they are relaxing the rules to allow any, or all, shops to open.

As we start another school year it is worthwhile taking some time to ponder the aims and purposes of our education system. This is particularly needed in the age when atheists are trying to turn our secular education system into a secularist form of social engineering.

Recently ‘the Church’ has been criticised for not speaking out on the Federal legislation aimed to help problem gamblers cope with poker machines. It’s strange how ‘the Church’ is not to speak into the public forum unless it’s going to say what its critics want to hear.

Public holidays are a strange battlefield of belief.  But of recent time there have been considerable complaint about the Government of NSW upholding our traditional Easter and Christmas holidays.

God’s justice is retributive.  That means He gives us what we deserve. 

Sometimes people contrast this justice with utilitarian views of justice.  The utilitarians criticise retribution as vengeance - as pay back - as primitive and pointless.  Utilitarians look forward to improve us or our society rather than look backward to what we deserve.  They look forward to the outcomes of justice - to rehabilitation, deterrence and the protection of society....

Should shops remain closed on Easter and Boxing Day? Should the TAB open for bets on Good Friday?

Are these steps another slap in the face of Australia's Christian heritage and one more step in de-Christianizing society?

If you expect me as a Christian leader to react with horror and self-interest, blind to the privileged place that Christianity holds in our society—I am sorry to disappoint you.

Should abortion be legalised? The NSW Government is being pressed to do so. Is this something that Christians should oppose?

Abortion is a very emotional, painful and difficult subject to discuss. Few issues polarise the community so thoroughly.
