Training for Ministry

The apostle Paul in writing to encourage Timothy his friend and disciple in ministry said 'be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also' (2 Timothy 2:2). This encouragement and in fact imperative is taken seriously by the Cathedral as it aims to train and equip men and women for ministry. To that end there are many ways that you can be trained for gospel ministry at St Andrew's.

Come and join one of our regular gatherings to serve is a great start because you will be involved in ministry and as you serve others you indirectly train in ministry. You may also find one of five more formal training avenues helpful for growth as a Christian, as a Christian leader or indeed as someone who the Cathedral will ultimately send out into ministry in a formal ministry capacity.

The five avenues for training for ministry at the cathedral are:

  1. Cathedral Cross Training - ongoing training for skills in evangelism, follow-up, ministry and theological thinking
  2. Certificate in Theology (PTC) - Short Correspondence Course
  3. St Andrew's GAP Adventure (SAGA) - training for Year 13
  4. Ministry Training Strategy (MTS) - Ministry Apprentice training
  5. Student Ministers - Theological Students attached to the Cathedral
