St Andrew's GAP Adventure (SAGA)

The St Andrew’s Gap Adventure (SAGA) is a initiative of St Andrew’s Cathedral and St Andrew’s Cathedral School and aims to assist year 13 and 14 students who have a particular interest in Christian ministry.

It is a GAP year in every sense of the expression. A year in length that bridges the ‘gap’ between secondary and tertiary education by providing a fun yet ministry-minded and structured year for those who take part.

SAGA is aimed at students who want to:

  • develop their Christian character by spending a year delving deeply into the Bible;
  • grow in gospel conviction by being challenged theologically and personally;
  • increase in their ability and skill to lead, speak, evangelise, work together with others and serve in lay gospel ministry – be that in their local church or in a school (such as SACS);
  • explore the possibility of full-time gospel ministry.

SAGA involves training, teaching, discipling, serving and studying. It is a ‘hands on’ one or two year scholarship program and aims to strengthen relationships with God through Jesus Christ, so students will be better equipped to teach, serve and respect those around them. The training will include ministry experience at SACS, the Cathedral and the local Church the student is attending.
